ASSWAT
Cyrinne Douss
Tunis
Multiple voices traverse Cyrinne Douss's body. Voices of ancestors, of women of yesterday and tomorrow. In Asswat — which connotes “voices”, in plural in Arabic — female identity unfolds in tensions, in rituals and in celebrations. Listening to the inside and the outside, the near and the far, the body becomes a territory of echoes, struggles, and memory. It welcomes, restores, transmits.
Alongside Cyrinne, artist and composer Benjemy weaves a sensitive score where music, breath, and movement intertwine. Together, they create a silent song, a rite of passage of a new kind.
This journey was built under the precise and benevolent gaze of the choreographer Robyn Orlin. Asswat is a work of transmission and repair, where the intimate becomes political, and fragility becomes strength. An embodied ritual, to make the buried voices heard—those that heal.
