El Warcha is a participatory design workshop developed by Benjamin Perrot in the Tunis medina, on Place de la Hafsia, from September to December 2016 as part of L'Art Rue's programme of artistic residencies. El Warcha is at the crossroads of art, design and crafts. Its aim is to create temporary street furniture objects by including the user in the process of making the product.
The idea here is to meet up, exchange ideas and create in a workspace that is wide open to the street and the neighbourhood, like a craftsman's workshop. The materials and tools are there, ready to use.
The creative time in the form of a daily workshop becomes a privileged moment of exchange and experimentation with the residents of the neighbourhood.
