"El Aers" by Corps Citoyen
L'Art Rue
With the support in 2016 of the DROSOS Foundation, [in part] the Open Society Foundations, MIMETA and the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
El Aers - The wedding project is a theatrical research project by the Corps Citoyen collective that began in 2015 and aims to create a new narrative about the freedom of movement across borders. In artistic residency at L'Art Rue from October to December 2016, Corps Citoyen is developing a creation with young people from the Naj el Mokhtar neighbourhood.
El Aers is a documentary and imaginary project based on the wishes, dreams and desires of young people living on either side of the Mediterranean, to go beyond stereotypes and judgements.
What are the real dreams of young people in the region? What do they want for their future? How are they similar and different on either side of the Mediterranean?
El Aers is collecting stories and experiences from different areas through a series of multidisciplinary workshops.
The aim is to use all this material to create a performance that reveals the full complexity of the territories around the Mediterranean and their relationship with Europe. Since 2015, Corps Citoyen has been travelling the length and breadth of Tunisia, collecting stories and desires as it meets people.
