Video Installation: Projection on chalkboards
The installation presents eight lessons in the form of video essays. Combining shots from classic cinema, archival and mobile footage, they create a visual conversation between global revolutionary histories, moving across time and space.
The work travels between the aftermath of the Ottoman Empire’s collapse, the anti-colonial battles against the French and British in the 1920s, the Syrian revolution in 2011, 1936 Spain, a revisionist memory of Russian Soviets, the Vietnamese resistance, and the Paris Commune among others.
Mapping Lessons reimagines political memory as a tool for imagining futures—asking how past revolutions can inform what we do next.
