Adnen el Ghali is a researcher in Red Sea history at the University of Turin. As a Doctor of History, architect, and urban planner, he places interest on urban diversity through the study of the territorial inscription of diasporas and communities in the cities of the Ottoman Empire. 

Former fellow of the French School of Rome, he was also a researcher at the Academia Belgica and the University of Lund.
