In a society marked more and more by violence, L'Art Rue and its partners are exploring new ways to promote social cohesion. They analyzed and studied the relationship be-tween individual, relational, social, cultural and environmental factors as the result of multiple influences on the behavior of young people in the Medina of Tunis. It is in this context that L'Art Rue has launched many initiatives to give young people the opportuni-ty to express themselves and formalize what they feel through the implementation of a participatory and collaborative artistic process. L'Art Rue has fostered dialogue between young people from neighborhoods in conflict with one another and has awakened pro-fessional vocations by introducing them to artistic professions.
Thus, the young beneficiaries who participated in the artistic residencies of Serge Aimé Coulibaly and who were the actors in the work presented to the public during the last session of the Art in the City – Dream City Festival, have seen significant changes in their relationships with one another, namely: overcoming the territorial divisions and the vis-ceral belonging to the neighborhoods of the Medina and their effects on their socializa-tion.
RASCAL, the artistic residency of Thomas Egoumenides is a continuation of this approach introducing a new dimension of change: art as a factor of change of "waste material", but also as a factor of social change creating cohesion in the neighborhood and mobilizing the Medina community for a common cause: the transformation of matter.
