The city of Cairo has grown enormously in recent years and Dataland is focused on pointing out transformation opportunities. Through the use of architectural drawings, maps, diagrams, photographs, and experimental visuals, each Dataland issue will cover a specific building typology.

The first issue will focus on administrative buildings that are being emptied out in the process of relocation to the New Administrative Capital. The research outcome will be published through bilingual (EN/AR) printed material as well as an online platform with a digital archive. The project’s goal is to popularize the concept of adaptive reuse by providing a visual catalogue of potential repurposing projects to local residents in the hopes of kindling the imagination of architects and non-architects alike.
