"In Between" by BENFURY

This project is supported by Tfanen - Tunisie Créative, a project to support the strengthening of the cultural sector, funded by the European Union as part of the Programme d'Appui au Secteur de la Culture en Tunisie (PACT) of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Tunisia. The project is a collaboration of the EUNIC network (National Cultural Institutes of the European Union), implemented by the British Council.

In 2018, L'Art Rue has invited the artist Mohamed Benaji (BENFURY) to work with young Tunisian urban dancers on a choreographic project involving them in a form and discipline with which they are not yet familiar.
Mohamed Benaji (BENFURY) developed his own breakdance technique before experimenting with contemporary dance with renowned choreographers. Over the years he has developed a specific approach and a constant quest to combine these two worlds of dance.
Selected by audition, 9 young dancers come from Tunis, Sfax, Hammamet, Mornaguia, Zaghouan and Ariana.
This transmission project, carried out in immersion in the medina of Tunis and organised into long sessions of improvisation and exchange, resulted in a collective choreographic creation, 'In Between', accompanied by an original musical creation, a synthesis of electronic and traditional music.
Above all, it reveals the potential of each aspiring dancer.
