Artistic Residency of Larie in the Medina of Tunis

As part of the Slash Transition programme, launched in March 2023, L'Art Rue is delighted to be hosting the artistic residency of Larie, a sound artist from Brazil based in Lisbon. This innovative project began with the formation of a ‘local hub’, made up of nine Tunisian experts, who analysed the area and designed a series of spatial, sound, architectural and olfactory experiments.

For this second phase, Larie will be at the heart of a project that will examine the Medina area of Tunis. From 24 to 28 June 2024, the artist made an initial study visit to Tunis, collecting documentation and meeting local residents, shopkeepers and project leaders. This immersion was essential for understanding the Medina's transformations from a socio-historical perspective.

The residency will run from 27 October to 19 November 2024, and will culminate in the creation of Change∞, a collective multimedia installation that promises to enrich the Tunisian art scene.

At the same time, L'Art Rue will have the pleasure of welcoming students from the École de Design Nantes Atlantique (EDNA), from 21 to 24 October 2024. The aim of this collaboration is to create enriching exchanges with the players that Larie met during her study visit.

At the end of their stay, the students will be tasked with creating a tool to facilitate documentation of the Slash project, thereby helping to perpetuate the knowledge and experience shared during the residency.
