L’Art Rue & Plan K Association – Compagnie Filipe Lourenço
Dancer and choreographer Filipe Lourenço is in residency at L'Art Rue all along 2023 for a re-creation of "GOUÂL" as part of the programme of the festival of art in the city Dream City.
This residency began by the end of 2022, following the encounter of Filipe Lourenço with the Tunisian public after having performed in the public space, for hisprevious project "Pulse(s) In Situ" during the 8th edition of the Dream City festival.This experience sparked his desire in coming back here, in Tunisia, to pursue a choreographic work and share it with professionals of the country to further strengthen the encounter and the exchanges previously initiated.
«GOUÂL» is a 2020 creation of the dance company Filipe Lourenço/ Plan K Association. It is inspired by the traditional, moroccan Alawi war dance . The tradition is completely revamped by the contemporary choreography of Filipe Lourenço who deconstructs the division of genders by creating a mixed dance group despite the fact that his dance is traditionally reserved for men. Crossed by a omnipresent basic rhythm, the contact of the dancers with the ground e and their voices, performed without music, this creation sheds the light on social issues as well as transmission.
