In a musical and choreographic solo, Filipe Lourenço finds contemporary relevance within traditional North African dances.
Franco-Portuguese, he trained since the age of eight in Arab-Andalusian music and traditional Maghreb dances. He became on of the favourite performers of many contemporary choreographers such as Boris Charmatz and Christian Rizzo.
In Pulse(s) In Situ, a solo of total sobriety and musicality, the rhythms of an Alawite war dance punctuate the performance. With distance and delicacy, Filipe Lourenço breaks down the movements of both male and female dances, stripped of all ornamentation.
