Sonia Levy



Sonia Levy is a UK-based artist and filmmaker engaged in research. Her work combines site-specific investigations and interdisciplinary collaborations to examine how Western expansionist and extractivist logics are reshaping hydrosocial worlds. 

Her films and installations have been shown at Tate Modern, ICA London, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Sainsbury Centre, CCA Radius, Ocean Space and Kunsthal Aarhus. Her research has been published by MIT Press and presented at institutions such as TU Delft, NYU Gallatin and UC Santa Cruz. 

She co-leads the How Like a Reef collective and was the European Marine Board’s artist-in-residence for 2023–2024, as part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, under the theme ‘Connecting People and the Ocean’.
