Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine de Paris and Ministry of Education in Tunisia
The "Change ta Classe" project was devised by Fiona Meadows for the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. In 2012, the project was extended to Tunisia thanks to the Dream City festival.
A continuation of the "Change your class" projects proposed by the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, the concept seeks to hijack popular television programmes such as "change ta chambre", where a team transforms a teenager's bedroom for the duration of the programme to give viewers ideas for interior decoration. Here, the action takes place in a school, collège or lycée classroom in a working-class district of Tunis.
For 2 months, under the auspices of L'Art Rue, Rym Abid and her students from the Tunis Higher Institute of Fine Arts took over the Hakim Kassar public primary school in Hafsia, in the heart of the Tunis medina, to transform a classroom into a creative space for creative activities. The aim is to transform a classroom into a creative space suitable for children.
Because what better way to reform an education system than to implant the precept that art is education for the soul?
