Presentation of the Recycling Workshop at Hay Hlel 2 School
This school year, we had the pleasure to introduce a recycling workshop alongside a weekly early-learning music workshop at Hay Hlel 2 school, located in a neighbourhood that deserves special attention. Often characterised by precarious conditions, this school had seen the birth in 2015 of a room dedicated to artistic activity as part of our ‘Qismi al ahla’ programme. The aim of this project was to promote access to art and culture in disadvantaged areas, by offering young people opportunities for expression and creativity.
Faced with the abundance of rubbish and discarded objects littering the school grounds, the recycling workshop was part of an effort to raise environmental awareness. Designed to raise children's environmental awareness, the workshop gave them the opportunity to learn practical and creative techniques for giving materials a second life. By highlighting the essential work of collectors and cleaners, this workshop helped to transform their view of their environment, while emphasising the importance of preserving their living environment.
This workshop has helped to redefine the relationship between the environment and art within the community, offering the children of Hay Hlel 2 the keys to tackling challenges in a creative and responsible way.
