Chems Eddine Mechri
When and where?
With a background in product design from the Fine Arts institute of Tunis, Chems Eddine Mechri created his own design brand « Né à Tunis » in 2005, inspired from Tunisian heritage materials and techniques. He made himself known with light fixtures in steel, stainless steel and copper, characterised by floral and calligraphic decorations as well as furniture.
He then expanded to other objects of interior decoration by introducing new materials like vegetable fibres (halfa, rush) and plaiting techniques linked with wool. He collaborates with craftsmen from different regions of Tunisia like Jradou, Beja, Zaghouan, Douz or Sidi Bouzid.
In 2020, he broadened his creative approach with « Né », a ready to wear ethical, inter-dependent and environmental brand.
