Masreb El Hattaya (مسرب الحطاية) is a sound journey imagined by Nidhal Yahyaoui, inspired by the routes that seasonal workers used to take from the south to the northwest of Tunisia, at the rhythm of the harvests. In their footsteps, resonate forgotten songs, beats of the earth, whispers of exile and toil.
Weaving tradition and present, this project revisits folk songs, enchants them again and brings them on stage as one carries a memory in motion. Masreb El Hattaya revives a living heritage and offers it to today’s audience.
Being a sound craftsman and a storyteller, Nidhal Yahyaoui digs into musical material like one excavating an ancient soil. “Archaeologist of music”, he unearths, reinvents and connects.
