Dream Leyli
At Dream City, the journey continues until evening.
Installations, films, videos, performances, dance, talks and workshops weave together a common thread of art, encounters and sharing. This stroll begins in the narrow streets of the Medina and ends in the historic Lafayette district, at the Saint George, where the Dream Leyli continue the adventure.
Since 2017, these moments of celebration have been reinventing the city centre of Tunis by opening up spaces for shared celebration, such as the Saint George Hotel. Built in 1929, this architectural gem in Lafayette – a neighbourhood where colonial memory, popular vitality and modernity intersect – is regaining its splendour. It was the place where renowned Tunisian artists such as Oulaia, Ridha El Kalli and Naâma performed their songs.
For this edition of Dream Leyli, a new sensibility has taken up residence in the welcoming setting of the Saint George Hotel: that of Aly Mrabet, with a sensory and sonic journey lasting 17 nights. From Tunisian music to timeless Raï, from Funk to the flavours of the Maghreb, from sweet Pop to spicy House, from reinvented Jazz to raw Folklore, from vibrant Hip-hop to experimental Electro... Here, emerging voices mingle with established artists, from here and elsewhere, to invent new ways of being together.
