Dignity

Chokri Ben Chikha

Gand

The Tunisian Human Zoo

A man, a past, a scene. In the footsteps of the human zoo, Chokri Ben Chikha questions History, its silence and its repetitions. He opens a space for confrontation between colonial legacies and the urgencies of the present.

Through stories, images, and movements, the bodies bear witness. The colonial past is not closed: it persists in gazes, discourses, exclusions. What remains today of the human zoo? What are its extensions in our contemporary societies?

Dignity gives a voice to those whe have been silenced by history. By blending theater, performance, and living memory, Ben Chikha creates a space of resistance. A space where art becomes a critical prism, where the tensions between domination, representation, and otherness are replayed.

A necessary piece, both intimate and political, to look differently – and restore dignity.
