Mona Hatoum
Mona Hatoum’s poetic and political work is realised in a diverse range of media and deals with issues of displacement, marginalisation and systems of social and political control.
Hatoum has participated in important international exhibitions, such as the Venice Biennale, Istanbul Biennial, Documenta, Kassel, Biennale of Sydney and Sharjah Biennials 8 & 15.
Solo exhibitions include Centre Pompidou, KIASMA, Helsinki and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, St Louis. Hatoum was awarded the Julio González Prize, Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (2020), the Praemium Imperiale (2019), the 10th Hiroshima Art Prize (2017) and the Joan Miró Prize (2011).
Born into a Palestinian family in Beirut, she lives and works in London.
