Etel Adnan
Etel Adnan (1925–2021) is widely recognized as one of the foremost authors and poets of her generation.
Widely known for her literary work, she fluidly moves between writing and art.
Her paintings rose to prominence after being featured in dOCUMENTA 13, and has held solo exhibitions at major institutions including Van Gogh Museum, Mudam, SFMoMA, Zentrum Paul Klee and Mathaf.
Her work was shown in group exhibitions at MoMA, Castello di Rivoli, Kamel Lazaar Foundation, and the Sharjah and Istanbul Biennials among others.
Adnan’s work is held in numerous public collections worldwide, including the Pompidou, MoMa, the Royal Jordanian Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and British Museum to name a few. She was born in Beirut.
