Alia Farid
Alia Farid works in film, sculpture, and textile.
Her practice centers on lesser-known histories, often deliberately erased, and looks at the ecological devastation of southern Iraq, the under-told histories of Arab and South Asian migration to Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Palestinian–Puerto Rican solidarity movement.
She has had solo exhibitions at institutions including Kunsthalle Basel and Portikus.
Her work has featured in major international group exhibitions such as the Whitney Biennial, Bienal de São Paulo and Gwangju Biennale.
She received the Lise Wilhelmsen Art Award in 2023 and was a 2023–24 Harvard Radcliffe Institute Fellow.
Born in Kuwait, she lives and works between Kuwait and Puerto Rico.
