In August 2016, during a popular festival in Kinshasa, Pepe Elmas Naswa discovered the amazing spells of the snake dance. Practised by the "chégués" (street children) and the "kuluna" (young gangsters), this new urban dance reflects all the confusion and malaise of a part of the Congolese youth. Terribly offensive and expressive, it is accompanied by a virulent music mixing traditional sounds and contemporary rhythms.
Pepe Elmas Naswa then proposed to the dancers he had seen in action to take part in a process of reflection and creation. Together, the seven dancers transmit a hybrid and chaotic body language, in tune with the rhythms of the nightclubs of Kinshasa.
