Arts & Education — A Year of Creative Learning and Artistic Workshops Dar Bach Hamba & Medina Schools, Tunis November 2025 – June 2026

After a year of creative learning, L'Art Rue is pleased to share the outcomes of its Arts & Education programme, implemented at Dar Bach Hamba and in four primary schools across the Medina of Tunis: Rue El Mar Primary School, Hakim Kassar Hafsia Primary School, Abdelaziz Lasrem Primary School, and Bab Souika Primary School.

Developed in partnership with schools that share our commitment to arts education, the programme provided children and teenagers with opportunities to engage in a wide range of artistic practices and to present their work to their families, peers, and local communities.

Programme Objectives

•    Increase access to arts and culture for children living in the Medina.

•    Foster creativity, self-confidence, and diverse forms of expression through movement, speech, visual arts, and sound.

•    Promote participatory, context-sensitive, and ethically grounded educational approaches.

•    Create a safe, inclusive, and consistent environment where children can learn, experiment, and grow.

Impact and Outcomes

End-of-year presentations took the form of exhibitions, music performances, dance showcases, and open workshops, celebrating the children's achievements and highlighting the role of art as a space for expression, learning, and collective discovery.

The programme also contributed to noticeable improvements in participants' self-confidence, listening skills, and ability to express themselves publicly. Families, educators, and community members praised both the quality of the children's work and the importance of sustained access to meaningful artistic education.

This programme was implemented by L'Art Rue in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Education. It was made possible through the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Tunisia and the Arts & Culture by UIB Foundation, with the contribution of local artists and partner organisations who facilitated the workshops.
