Call for Artists' Assistant applications
L'Art Rue is an association based in the Medina of Tunis, in the Koutteb Louzir quarter. It uses art as a powerful tool for dialogue, reflection and social development. By mobilising local and international artists, L'Art Rue transforms everyday places (schools, squares, cafés) into spaces for creation and civic engagement.
As part of the next Dream City 2025 festival, L'Art Rue is recruiting an Artist Assistant to support the guest artists throughout their creative residencies and during the festival's dissemination period. This position represents a direct immersion in the world of artistic production and offers practical experience in the field.
Main tasks
The Artist Assistant will work closely with the Production Manager and the festival team. Responsibilities include:
1. ACCOMPANYING ARTISTS
- Welcoming artists and facilitating their installation (transport, accommodation, presentation of residency venues, dressing rooms).
- Ensuring their comfort and meeting their specific needs.
2. PRODUCTION AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT
- Helping to prepare, install, assemble and dismantle the works or performances.
- Coordinate residency activities with the technical, stage management and production teams.
- Plan logistical requirements and ensure that operations run smoothly.
3. MANAGING MATERIAL AND BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS
- Organising the supply of materials, equipment and supplies needed for the production.
- Monitor day-to-day expenditure and keep within the allocated budget.
4. DOCUMENTATION AND EVALUATION
- Documenting the creative process (taking notes, photos, reports).
- Prepare detailed project reviews and reports.
5. ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN THE PRODUCTION PHASES
- Being present at key moments: assembly, rehearsals, performances and dismantling.
Availability
This job is ad hoc and requires flexible working hours:
- Period of intervention: from January to October 2025, according to a schedule drawn up in consultation with the teams.
Profile required
SKILLS AND QUALITIES REQUIRED
- Artistic sensitivity: Understanding of artists' practices and specific needs.
- Rigour and organisation: Ability to manage schedules and priorities effectively.
- Reactivity and proactivity: Ability to anticipate needs and quickly resolve unforeseen circumstances
- Team spirit and flexibility: Fluid collaboration in a dynamic environment with variable working hours.
- Clear communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with different people.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Training in the arts, cultural production, cultural project management, or equivalent.
- Experience (even at an early stage) in artistic production, artist residencies or cultural events.
- Technical knowledge of events is a plus.
- Knowledge of the narrow streets of the Medina of Tunis would be an asset.
