Civic Space with Ahmed Tobasi and Samaa Wakim

Three Palestinian artists from Jenin, Haifa and Gaza will discuss their cultural practice, and their present and future in the light of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and the more and more violent occupation of the West Bank.

Together they will discuss a number of key-issues: how to engage with these atrocities as artists, and which next steps to envisage and contribute to? Which forms of solidarity from Arab and other colleagues can be useful? How can the Palestinian cultural sector and civil society survive this onslaught? And is a constructive relationship with Europe and the West still possible?

This conversation will be moderated by Aseel AlBajeh -advocacy and campaign officer at the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) living in Ramallah, with the participation of Ahmed Tobasi - actor and artistic director of The Freedom Theatre in Jenin, and Samaa Wakim - performing artist, member of the Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre and living in Haifa, and an artist from Gaza to be confirmed.
