Sonia Kallel was born in Tunis in 1973. After studying fashion design at l’École  Supérieure des Industries de la Mode in Toulouse, she chose to study graphic arts at the l’École des Beaux-Arts in Tunis. She then defended a doctoral thesis at the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and she has since then been working in Tunis. From 2010, she has been devoting her creations to forgotten professions and communities. She adopts an anthropological method of proximity based on encounters and exchanges. Her creations testify to the need to put artistic production at the service of social causes. Sonia Kallel has participated in many major artistic events in Tunisia, Europe and the Middle East.
