Irena Eden (born in Hamburgs, Germany) & Stijn Lernout (born in Antwerp, Belgium) have been working together on the conception and implementation of artistic projects and works since they graduated in 2004 after their studies at the Muthesius Academy of fine Arts in Kiel, Germany, the Weißensee Art Academy in Berlin, Germany and the Art Academy in Sarajevo, BiH. In 2008 they moved their work and life center from Berlin to Vienna. Over the years, in addition to project-based and installation work, painterly work has also developed.  

Over the past years and within their projects the duo has focused on the Mediterranean region, and currently their research concentrates on the Mediterranean Lingua Franca, a historical contact language.
