Wissem Hamami
Wissem Hammami, born in Tunis, Tunisia, is a ceramic artist with two degrees: a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Tunis School of Fine Arts (2001) and a diploma in Fashion Design from ESMOD Tunis (2014). She is the founder of the brand ROUMOUZ, which specializes in the creation of ceramic pieces.
Her work is defined by a passion for blending traditional craftsmanship with modern ceramics, applied to all kinds of accessories, whether for tableware or fashion. A symbol of protection in Tunisian culture, the fish motif is often present in her creations.
She has taken part in many national competitions, where she received several awards, as well as numerous international exhibitions. In January 2007, she exhibited at the TRAMP Gallery in Le Marais, Paris. This exhibition received wide media coverage, including in Côté Sud magazine (March 2007). During the same period, she also participated in the HUIT project at Maison & Objet in September 2007. In 2010, she was part of an exhibition of Tunisian designers at the New York Design Center in the United States. Since 2007, she has also participated in other international fairs such as Ambiente and Tendence in Frankfurt, Import Shop in Berlin, and MACEF in Milan.
Through a highly developed artistic approach, she has always sought to refine, stylize, simplify, and purify her work—in short, to focus on the essential and give traditional heritage a modern aesthetic. Guided by this vision, she consistently creates harmonious collections with a strong and constant attention to quality.
Today, in her workshop in Denden, her creativity bursts forth in a spontaneous explosion of bold colors that enrich her pieces. Whether flat or wheel-thrown, her forms are clean, stylized, and free of ornamentation. Inspired by Berber motifs and reimagined traditional symbols, her creations carry, layer by layer, the memory of cultural heritage.
