Mohamed Labidi
The hand that shapes and passes on
Mohamed Labidi is a master leather craftsman with over four decades of experience in leather craftsmanship and product design. He began his professional journey at the age of 17, first working as an assistant with well-known figures in the Tunisian leather industry, including Bachir El Hargel and Abd Lahmid Ben Yeder. In 1980, he earned a professional skills certificate in leather goods from CFAMA Sidi Ayed, a recognized vocational training center.
After years of observing trends and the limits of mainstream designs, he founded his own independent workshop. There, he developed original leather items based on a concept he calls “small leather goods,” focusing on handcrafted products such as wallets, pouches, and leather accessories. At the age of 30, Mr. Labidi expanded his business by taking on larger-scale orders. His notable collaborations include producing custom leather items for the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) and participating in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), held in Tunis in 2005. This international event was attended by world leaders, including the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.
Throughout his career, Mohamed Labidi has consistently emphasized innovation in both technique and design. He ensures that his leather patterns and product lines evolve with modern trends while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. His adaptability and commitment to continuous learning have made him a respected figure in Tunisia’s leather craftsmanship industry.
