Basma El Euchi

Besma El Euchi holds a degree in Theater Studies from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Tunis and a master's degree in Art Theory from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis. An actress, writer, and cultural activist, she has made significant contributions to the world of theater and cinema. Through numerous productions and cultural initiatives, she showcases her talent and passion for the arts.

In theater, Besma has performed in several notable productions, such as Yahya Yaiich/Amnésia, Khamsoun/Corps Otages, and Junun, all directed by Fadhel Jaibi. These works have been presented at prestigious international festivals, including the Avignon Festival (France) in 2002 and 2012, as well as at the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Paris in 2006. She has also participated in festivals in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Morocco, Jordan, and Lebanon.


Her writing career began in 2017 with the play Blood Moon, which she wrote and performed as part of a production at the El Hamra Theater in Tunis. In 2020, 2021, and 2022, she was shortlisted for the RFI Theater Prize for three consecutive years.

Always eager to improve her expertise, Besma continues to attend training sessions and workshops, the latest being a masterclass organized by Odin Teatret in Denmark in 2024, led by Eugenio Barba.


In addition to her artistic career, Besma has been a theater teacher in schools since 2002 and is active in the cultural association sector. She is a co-founder of the L'Art Vivant Association, which she has supported since 2011. She also led the Viv'Art à Bni Mtir project and the regional project “Let’s talk Cinema”, in partnership with Egypt since 2020.
