"La Guerra" by Kais Harbaoui
Monday 9 May 2022 at 11:00 and 11:30
Cité de la Culture - Tunis
"La Guerra" is a choreographic dance piece (quartet).
In his work, the choreographer Kais Harbaoui addresses the causes of wars, the rejection of the other in general and the practice of violence. Is it even necessary? Is it possible to find and live with the other in peace? Is it easy to live in war?
The performance is artistically based on the physical skills of the artists and their ability to create artistic and poetic images. The piece gathers around the axis of power relations, antagonism and homogeneity in the relationship of individuals to each other, rejecting the other at first and then doing violence to each other and then transcending the difference and creating integration with the other.
In this relationship we preserve the common human denominator despite the difference in its relationship to Good and Evil and to construction and destruction. The dancers rely only on movement and energy.
Kais Harbaoui has been passionate about dance since he was a child. His first steps were in hip-hop dance (breakdance). Then, he got closer to contemporary dance and worked on American techniques from which he trained at ACTS (School of contemporary dance in Paris). Since these years of training and his encounters with personalities in the field, Kais has been constantly defining and renewing his choreographic signature.
