About Manthia Diawara
Manthia Diawara (Bamako, lives in New York) is a filmmaker, cultural theorist and art historian whose work has made a lasting contribution to the cultural studies of black and African diasporas. His scholarly and creative practice (essay films and documentaries) tackles the politics of postcolonialism, decolonization, migration and globalization by amplifying the voices of black theorists and artists, and highlighting the erosion of African traditions and ecosystems by global modernity.
