Sajjad Abbas


Sajjad Abbas’ experimental work makes use of graffiti, animation, video, and film, and is deeply engaged with contemporary Baghdad: 


he creates and participates in political and social satire, protest, and community activism. His work has been included at documenta fifteen, the New Wright Gallery at the University of California Los Angeles, Videobrasil (22nd edition), e-flux screening room, and the 12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art among others. 


His short film, The Iraqi Superhero, received the award for best animation at the 2016 edition of the Maremetraggio ShorTS International Film Festival.  


Born in Baghdad, he lives and works in Baghdad
