Ala Younis
Ala Younis uses her research-led art practice to seek instances where historical and political events collapse into personal ones.
Her work examines contemporary issues and what informs visual and popular culture—nationalism, didactic projects, political alliances, social movements, the emergence of global capital and personal and collective loss—through a multiplicity of voices.
She presented her work in solo shows internationally and in the biennials of Istanbul, Venice, Gwangju, Ljubljana, Kaunas, Ural, Sharjah, Orléans, and Islamic Arts in Jeddah.
In 2012, she co-founded the independent research and publishing initiative Kayfa ta.
Born in Kuwait City, she lives and works in Amman.
