Rabih Mroué

Born in Beirut and lives in Berlin, Rabih Mroué is a theatre director, actor, visual artist and playwright, concerned with images of violence and political propaganda. Rabih Mroué presented four of his Non-Academic Lectures, including Pixelated Revolution, at Dream City 2023. Click to read his interview with Daniela Hahn around his artistic approach. 

Born in Beirut and lives in Berlin, is a theatre director, actor, visual artist and playwright. In 1990 he began putting on his own plays, performances, and videos. For many years he has been concerned with images of violence and political propaganda. He collects documents, dismantles and rewrites them, and creates works that question how images and stories are constructed and instrumentalized. He was a fellow at The International Research Center: Interweaving Performance Cultures/ FU/Berlin from 2013-2014.He has been working as theatre director (Metteur en scène)  at Münchner Kammerspiele (Munich) from 2015 to 2019. He has performed and exhibited internationally including dOCUMENTA (13) - Kassel, CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo - Madrid, The ICP Triennial and MoMa - New York , Centre Pompidou – Paris, SALT – Istanbul, among others…
