L'Art Rue sponsors the event " El Menzah 1945-1970: An attempt to apply a modern ideal "
A project of Docomomo Tunisia co-organized with Mouhit, and sponsored by L'Art Rue.
On Saturday June 10th, conferences, encounter-debate and exhibitions are scheduled to (re)introduce residents and the general public to the exceptional area of El Menzah.
The numerous housing and community facilities of El Menzah’s ‘model’ operation are a remarkable corpus and a valuable witness to modern Tunisian architecture. They must be saved before they disappear forever.
It is with this objective in mind that Docomomo Tunisia has implemented an awareness-raising action. Several artists, illustrators, photographers and architects are associated with this action. It will take place symbolically in one of the FRIDA villas, a prototype model of duplex villas designed by architects Jason Kyriacopoulos and Simon Taieb in 1960 on behalf of the SNIT.
This villa, which fortunately escapes the vagaries of time, is currently a residence of artists that houses the headquarters of the association "Mouhit".
