When and where?

The collective Cultural and Artistic Rights in Tunisia worked in March 2022 to document and study the country's artistic and cultural situation in order to submit an Alternative report about Cultural and Artistic Rights in Tunisia to the United Nations Human Rights Council (Switzerland). This civil society report precedes the one to be submitted by the State next summer.

The collective is conducting reflections on the status of artists and arts and crafts and is organising joint cultural and artistic activities.

The collective is composed of the associations L'Art Rue, Association Tunisienne de défense des libertés individuelles, Association Tunisienne de Soutien des Minorités, Association Al-Karama, Avocats Sans Frontières, Arab Institute for Human Rights, Mobdiun - Creative Youth, Réseau tunisien pour la justice transitionnelle, Utaim Medenine, Association Ibsar.

This alternative report was coordinated by L'Art Rue using a participatory method by bringing together a group of artists and intellectuals with knowledge of the cultural and artistic field, who helped to identify the problematic points and recommendations for reform in this area. In the same way, the member associations of the collective have each made a contribution based on their mandate

L'Art Rue submits on behalf of the Cultural and Artistic Rights Collective nearly fifty recommendations specific to the cultural sector in Tunisia. These recommendations are part of the alternative report of the civil society intended for the Human Rights Council of the United Nations. It will be the subject of our digital program  'Civic Space' meeting-debate on Monday 11 April with members of the Collective.
