Call for participation - Dream City 2025 Audition
with The nasa4nasa dance collective
The project
L'Art Rue in collaboration with the dance collective nasa4nasa, co-founded by dancers Noura Seif Hassanein and Salma Abdel Salam, are looking for dancers for the re-creation of Sham3dan, which will be presented in Tunis during the 10th edition of Dream City from 03 to 19 October 2025.
Sham3dan is a dance performance in which nine dancers (Egyptian and Tunisian) invoke the spirits of their predecessors while harnessing the magnetic fields they collectively create. This performance is inspired by the history of Sham3dan dance in Egypt and the changes it has undergone over the years.
The work places the founding mothers of this dance as ghosts who have perpetuated the dance into our own time. The fictions surrounding their lives always highlight the sacrifice that dance represents.
Sham3dan highlights the systems of power in choreography, revealing the commitment and violence of its mastery while seeking to create new configurations of memory.
