Artistic Residency of Larie in Tunis : Exploring the Medina
Larie, born in Brazil and based in Lisbon, is one of the 5 selected sound artists who will be part of the first stage of the international cooperation programme, Slash Transition, by exploring the Medina of Tunis.
The Medina of Tunis has different "uses," and the local hub that has been part of the programme (9 interdisciplinary tunisian experts) has agreed to provide a roadmap and itinerary to the artist upon three main themes : sacredness, commercial, and residential.
The concept of transition could be reflected in these areas while leaving exploration regarding the artist’s approach.
Larie will have a study visit from 24th to 28th June 2024 to develop and prepare for their first residency, which will be held in October/November 2024.
During this first stage, Larie will be collecting material, exchanging with the residents of the Medina and getting to know the area and its surroundings, to get a better grasp of the historical/sociological context and the transitions the Medina has been going through.
