In 2021, the program "Change your Classroom" carried by L'Art Rue since 2012 becomes "Qismi al Ahla - Creating the best classroom democratically". The aim is to transfer the skills and experience of our organisation to civil society associations in the Tunisian regions to help them to create safe spaces and an enabling environment in public primary schools for the development and emancipation of children.

Three associations in the governorates of Ben Arous, Jendouba and Médenine have been selected to benefit from the program to strengthen their technical and organisational capacities as well as financial support for the implementation of "Qismi al Ahla" in 3 public primary schools.

In the governorate of Médenine (South of Tunisia), the association "La voix de l'enfant rural" intervened in the primary school "Hassy Médenine". This school has 137 pupils, 11 teachers, 1 director and 1 caretaker.

It has a neglected house which has been chosen to host "Qismi al Ahla". It needs to be rehabilitated and transformed into a cultural centre dedicated to artistic and educational activities. Indeed, the district lacks clubs for young people and children, so this project will create a cultural resource centre for the whole region. In addition to the children, their parents and the educational staff, this project also targets students from the School of Education and Training who previously implemented the "My school, my hope" project, which consisted of organising cultural events in the region's schools.

About the project leader in Medenine "The voice of the rural child"

"The Voice of the Rural Child" aims to provide children with the educational and recreational means necessary to improve their lives and develop their skills. The association targets children, young people and women from rural and disadvantaged areas. Various recreational, educational, cultural and artistic activities are offered to them, such as the animation project in primary schools, the setting up of educational clubs, the organisation of training for young people, etc. These projects are supported in part by TFANEN, the Erasmus programme, and are developed in collaboration with the Medenine cultural complex, the Youth Centre, the regional education administration and in partnership with local associations.
